PATIENCE AND FAITH

Sometimes things don’t always go the way we plan, it seems confusing most times.
Doubting everything l have heard or known.
For how long would l wait?
Fear has gotten the best of me.
My heart is burdened.
I don’t know what to pray for or may be l just don’t know how to pray.
I know God is real, his delay is not his denial.
How do l help myself understand the fact that his ways are higher than mine?
Help me carry on Lord.

Well, this is a poem l wrote at a point in my life when it seemed like all hope was lost, everything God promised me wasn’t been fulfilled. These two powerful words came to me PATIENCE and FAITH.

What is patience and faith?
Patience is a virtue and it means waiting  without complaining ,  Gal 5:22-23. God desires that we trust him and wait upon him, our patience towards God stems from our faith.
Romans 2:7 (AMP)
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek the glory and honor and immortality, eternal life.
Hebrews 6:12 (NIV)
We do not want to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
Hebrews 6:12 (NLT)
Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent, instead you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
I read somewhere were someone said faith without patience produces people who start off good but burnout over time. Patience without faith allows poeple to change their situation.
          Most importantly:

  • Don’t you ever give up on your dreams
  • Don’t you ever allow your situation or challenge determine your faith
  • You never know when your breakthrough is around the corner

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of things (we) hope, do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith) perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.
James 1:3 (KJV)
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
God strengthens our belief by testing our faith, the more our faith is tested the stronger we get.
Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV)
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
There would be trying times God didn’t not say it would be rosy, just remember how far God has brought you through, remember your victories. Be patient the process is almost over.

Rick warren said “Don’t you ever get discouraged” he also talked about a popular button with letters PBPGINFWMY which means please be patient, God is not finished with me yet.
Isa 40:31(KJV)
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint
During the waiting time is when your strength is renewed, patience and faith is what God desires of us but when we allow distraction doubt comes into the picture.

Doubt: this is when you not sure of the things you have heard or the things that you know. For example mattew 14:22-31

Matt 14:28-32 (KJV)
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter was walking towards Jesus when he saw the wind and started sinking, that is what doubt can do to an individual, Peter got distracted by the wind (challenges, worries and troubles) that he lost his focus which was to reach Jesus.

When doubt gets in between patience and faith this is what happens

  • You would neglect everything you have held on to (patience) and everything you hope to see (faith).
  • The spirit of the lord that keeps you calm is now neglected and abandoned, you now give excuses for not doing the right thing because what holds you is no more there (patience and faith)

Hebs 10:36b -37 (ESV)
Receive what is promised for, yet a little while and the coming one will come and will not delay. But my righteous one shall live by faith and if he shrinks back my soul has no pleasure in him.
When it seems like you can’t hold on again pray for God’s strength and grace, encourage yourself in the lord beloved.
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we don’t see wait for it with patience.

I prefer to use faith in place of hope in that verse, but if l have faith in that which l do not see l will wait for it patiently. It wasn’t written that way just trying to make you understand what l am saying, let romans 8:25 be your watch word.

I call you blessed!!!!!
